Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” (Der fliegende Holländer)

Renowned composer Richard Wagner initially averred that he was influenced to compose this The Flying Dutchman after he endured a tempestuously thunderous voyage to London in 1839, yet in 1843 he confirmed that the actual source of inspiration for Dutchman was Heinrich Heine’s novel The Memoirs of Mister von Schnabelewopski.
